THE PROCESS

In my mixed media practice, I use chaotic colors and photographic imagery to convey peculiar narratives that exist at the intersection of reality and the fantastical. My work is an exploration of the thin veil between memory and imagination, constructed through an experimental synthesis of global visual histories. My work is not intended to be pretty, easily readable, or comfortably digestible; rather, it is an experimental exploration of textures and mediums meant to challenge the viewer’s perception.

Influenced by the theatrical, queer identity, and fantastical films of my childhood, I use surrealism as a tool to dismantle and examine rigid gender norms and conservative systems. Animal masks serve as recurring symbols, dramatized versions of characters we all encounter in our lives. These figures populate the dreamlike landscapes I create. By merging these diverse visual languages with modern photography and print processes.

Ultimately, my work is a vessel for a specific kind of nostalgia: a need to escape our reality into dreamlike narratives we build to survive, subvert, and escape reality. I aim to create inclusive, surrealist spaces that subvert traditional power structures and invite a deeper, more visceral emotional communication.
